AURORA-The 3-Day Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training Course officially commenced on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Operations Center in Barangay Suklayin, Baler, Aurora.
The training, scheduled to run until July 24, aims to enhance the preparedness, coordination, and operational capabilities of first responders in the province when dealing with various emergencies and disasters.
In his welcome message, Engineer Amado Elson Egargue, PDRRMO Chief, warmly received the participants and emphasized the vital role of the training in disaster response.
“This training is not just a technical activity—it is a crucial step toward more efficient, faster, and effective response during emergencies. Your presence here is a testament to your dedication as frontliners in disaster preparedness,” said Engr. Egargue.
Atty. Lyonnel S. Aragon delivered the message of support from Governor Reynante A. Tolentino, who underscored the importance of such training programs as one of the priorities of his administration. The governor reaffirmed his full support for initiatives that strengthen local disaster response systems and expressed his readiness to back both local and national programs of the PDRRMO.
The training gathered around 30 participants from various government agencies in the province, including local disaster risk reduction and management officers. Five (5) qualified trainers with expertise in emergency operations and disaster preparedness are facilitating the sessions.
On the first day, topics covered include Introduction to Emergency Operations Center (EOC), EOC Operations, and EOC Staffing and Organization. The second day will focus on EOC Facility Design and Requirements, Information Management, and the Planning Process.
The final day will feature a Simulation Exercise, allowing participants to apply what they’ve learned in a realistic scenario. This will be followed by an EOC Readiness Assessment, Final Evaluation, Final Exam, and a Closing Program.
The overall goal of the three-day training is to boost Aurora Province’s disaster readiness in facing threats such as typhoons, earthquakes, floods, and even pandemics—through faster, more organized, and systematized EOC operations.
This activity is part of the continuing efforts of the Provincial Government of Aurora to protect lives, property, and livelihoods during times of disaster. (Jason de Asis)
