AURORA — A fire broke out in Barangay Cadayacan, Maria Aurora on the night of July 18, 2025, gutting five houses and causing an estimated ₱150,000 worth of property damage.
According to Police Major Ferdinand B. Usita, Chief of Police of the Maria Aurora Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 9:15 PM. Noelamin Dumaya, 23, was reportedly watching television inside her home when she noticed flames coming from the nearby residence of her relative, Marjorie Salido, also 23. Dumaya immediately called for help from neighbors.
Responding residents confirmed that no one was inside Salido’s house at the time. However, the fire quickly spread, affecting four adjacent row houses owned by Mark Gil Salido, 35; Marcelina Salido, 54; Marjorie Salido; Marilyn Quiano, 52; and Dumaya herself — all residents of Barangay Cadayacan.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Maria Aurora promptly responded to the incident and were able to declare the fire under control at around 10:10 PM.
No injuries were reported. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire, while local government units are extending initial assistance to the affected families. (Jason de Asis)
