PH, US Naval Forces Conduct Live-Fire Gunnery Exercise Off Zambales

The Armed Forces of the Philippines led a successful Gunnery Exercise (GUNNEX), as part of the ongoing Multilateral Maritime Event (MME) of Exercise Balikatan 40-2025, held Friday, April 25 west of the coast of San Felipe, Zambales.

The drill involved live-fire maneuvers using .50 caliber guns and was participated in by the Philippine Navy BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS16) and BRP Conrado Yap (PS36). The Philippine Coast Guard contributed with the deployment of its Offshore Patrol Vessel BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV 8301). On the United States side, the USS Savannah (LCS 28) and USS Comstock (LSD 45) took part in the training event.

The GUNNEX served as a platform for the joint forces to refine naval surface warfare tactics, improve communication interoperability, and strengthen maritime domain awareness in the West Philippine Sea.
