PAMPANGA – In a strategic operation amid the Holy Week observance, police authorities in Angeles City apprehended a high-value drug suspect and seized over ₱1.7 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation conducted under the Abacan Bridge in Barangay Ninoy Aquino on Wednesday evening, April 17.
The suspect, identified as a 43-year-old male known by the alias “Gilagid,” a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Porac, Pampanga, was arrested around 9:10 PM following weeks of surveillance by anti-narcotics operatives from Police Station 6.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were an estimated 255 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) valued at ₱1,734,000 based on standard drug pricing. Authorities also seized one marked ₱1,000 bill, seven pieces of ₱1,000 boodle money, and an olive green sling bag allegedly used to conceal the illegal substances.
The suspect is currently detained at Police Station 6 and is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale) and 11 (possession) of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), commended the Angeles City Police Office for the successful operation, which she described as a testament to law enforcement’s unwavering resolve to fight the illegal drug trade—even during the Holy Week.
“This arrest sends a clear and powerful message: there is no sanctuary for drug traffickers in Central Luzon,” said Fajardo. “Our commitment remains firm—to protect our communities, especially our youth, from the perils of narcotics.”
She further called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive of anti-drug efforts. “We urge everyone to be part of this campaign. With your cooperation, we can build a stronger, safer, and drug-free Bagong Pilipinas.”
The latest operation marks another milestone in PRO3’s intensified anti-drug campaign, in alignment with the national government’s push for sustainable peace, order, and public safety. (Jason de Asis)
