DTI intensifies rice price monitoring, vows swift action against violators

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is at the forefront of intensified price monitoring, ensuring the available supply of regular and well-milled rice priced between P40 per kilo to P45 per kilo.

“Rice is a staple for Filipino families, and we will not tolerate any attempts to exploit the public by manipulating its price,” declared DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque.

“Our monitoring teams are actively inspecting markets across the country to ensure compliance with fair trade laws. We will not hesitate to impose fines, closures, and other penalties on those found to be non-compliant.”

This intensified rice price monitoring, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA), aims to ensure strict compliance with the Price Act (Republic Act No. 7581, as amended by RA No. 10623) and prevent any attempts at hoarding or price manipulation.

“We are committed to protecting consumers and ensuring that every Filipino family has access to affordable rice,” Secretary Roque emphasized.

“Through our whole-of-government approach, we are working tirelessly to build a secure and prosperous Bagong Pilipinas where no one is left behind.”(DTI)
