Samahang Ilocano Castillejos Zambales Chapter performers portray a scene from the “Scourging at the Pillar”, also known as the flagellation of Christ, during a village presentation dubbed “Live Kubol” on Maundy Thursday in Barangay San Roque in Castillejos town of Zambales in the Philippines. The scourging at the pillar is a mournful event that serves as a reminder of the horrors Jesus Christ suffered before his crucifixion as commemorated in this predominantly Roman Catholic nation.
