Philippines, Australian maritime drill opens in Subic

The Philippine Navy and the Royal Australian Navy kicked off their bilateral maritime drills with an opening ceremony held Tuesday, July 18 in Subic, Zambales.

The annual activity, dubbed as “Exercise Lumbas 2023”, aims to sustain and strengthen the military relationship and enhance interoperability between the two navies and drills will be held in different areas in Northern Luzon from July 18 to July 22, 2023.

“Exercise LUMBAS 2023, which marks the 23rd iteration, seeks to deepen the interoperability between the Philippine Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. The deployment will include navy-to-navy engagements both at sea and during port visits”, said a Philippine Navy statement.
