Cabangan, Zambales – A tree-planting activity was held on June 30, 2022 at Barangay Forest Project (BFP) in Cadmang-Reserva, Cabangan, Zambales as part of the culminating activity for the month-long celebration of the Philippine Environment 2022 with the theme “ONE EARTH: Aksyon para sa natatanging MUNDO”.
The event was organized by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Olongapo City, headed by CENRO Jowell P. Dellosa, in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Cadmang-Reserva and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Iba in Zambales.
The activity aimed to engage the LGUs and the other organizations to support and sustain the environment to prevent harmful effects brought about by global warming and climate change.
The participants from selected CENRO, PENRO personnel, and barangay officials of Brgy. Cadmang-Reserva, led by Brgy. Captain Remedios D. Pelayo, planted a total of one hundred (100) seedlings of mahogany and cashew species.
The 20-hectare agroforestry plantation was established in CY 2014 in support of the implementation of BFP funded by the DENR under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and shall be used for the establishment of nursery, seedling production, establishment and maintenance and protection. Moreover, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Zambales (DENR Zambales) is continuing to take the lead in organizing events that aim to highlight the significance of replanting degraded forests, inform the general public about the importance of water conservation, properly manage solid waste, and ensure the safety of various species of wildlife.
As we have consistently advocated the IKAW, AKO, and Tayo ang Kalilkasan, we are looking forward to partnerships and collaborations to revive and heal our Mother Earth.
